My friends in Llandudno who I stayed with for a few days have this picture on their wall. I asked who it was by and what it was called but they didn't know. If you know, could you let me know. Thanks.

I've wasted a big chunk of my morning searching the web and I can't find another image of this painting. It certainly looks like it was painted by Diego Rivera, the Mexican muralist. I can't find it in any of the online galleries of Rivera's work. I used to live in Detroit, near the art insitiute, which has a huge Rivera mural in the lobby, and I know what Rivera's style looks like. I did searches of paintings for Rivera's wife, Frida Kahlo, and she never painted anything like this. I also checked the other well known members of the Mexican school, Siqueiros and Orozco and they never painted anything like this. Based on very little more than my bus driving experience, I'm saying this is a Diego Rivera painting. The subject is the Dia De Los Muertos, the Day of the Dead. Day of the Dead is also celebrated in the Southwestern US. I once happened to pass by a Native American graveyard on the day of the dead and there were the locals, out decorating the graves and picnicing in the cemetery. Interestingly, In San Francisco, the Chinese do a similar celebration honoring the ancestors. I once drove a charter bus taking members of an extended Chinese family to a cemetery where the ancestors graves were decorated and everyone, including me, ate steamed buns, barbecued pork and oranges.
