12.00 and the rain started, Ten minutes later and the centre of Torquay was under a foot of water. Many shops in Union Street and here in Fleet Street were flooded out, some remained closed for weeks after.The state of the drains were blamed but so far no extensive work has been carried out to said drains with the hope of preventing a similar flood.

I seem to remember Stagecoach coming under fire for continuing to allow buses to run up and down Fleet Street and sending bow waves into all the shops making the flooding worse.
we need to wake up to the flood season as it would appear to be an annual event now up and down the country at one point during the summer.
