Now here is a WARNING

Now I don't usually do this, if you have a mobile phone you should be aware that there are people out there after your money but this is one more scam you need to look out for. Me, if I had a mobile I would be scared to answer the damn thing in case I got home and found the house gone. But here you are:-

If you receive a phone call on your mobile from any person, saying that, he or she is a company engineer, or telling you that they're checking your mobile line, and you have to press #90 or #09 or any other number. End this call immediately without pressing any numbers. There is a fraud company using a device that once you press #90 or #09 they can access your "SIM" card and make calls at your expense. Forward this message to as many colleagues, relatives and friends as you can, to stop it.

Many thanks for your time regarding this matter, take care and regards.

Phil Corris

Police Constable/Crime Prevention Officer

This is an urban legend. Emails like this have been going round for years.

The original 90# scam was real, but this e-mail warning contains errors. Primarily, the scam was targeted to business and only applied to Private Branch Exchange (PBX) phone systems that require users to dial 9 or 9-0 to get an outside line. Since this letter builds on the original and tries to apply the exact same scam to mobile phones, it is hard to believe it's accurate.

I believe that the police at new scotland yard were defrauded out of £1000's by this fraud many years ago.
once somebody obtained an open line it was used to call overseas the call was then routed to different people via scam operators at uk & overseas ends allowing people to make half price calls I think hong kong was one location the people making the calls did not know of the scam the calls were not traceable as technology we have now was not present 20 years ago.very embarrassing for police only reported in trade press many large company's hit. will not work with mobile phones I tried it with mobile phones and land lines which I paid bills for some time ago to test does NOT work
