RTC at the Leisure Centre

The bus was doing 1 mph when the RTC occurred. Some guy in a car went past me and moved in to the left hand lane. Which I, as the photo shows, was in. But the car was in front of me so there shouldn't have been a problem. Shame there was a 20 foot long 7 foot wide trailer attached to the car which wasn't in front of me which also moved in and did some damage, not much, to the front of the bus. According to the other driver it was all my fault.
Personally I think it was the fault of who ever marked out the road. What we have here is a set of traffic lights at Torbay Leisure Centre. Twenty yards before the lights there is one lane which changes into 3 lanes. The right lane is for turning right and the centre and left for going straight on. Forty yards beyond the lights these two lanes change back to one lane and everyone in the right hand lane makes desperate efforts to overtake before reaching this sign.
Crazy.
If it was all one lane we would still all get to Brixham. Please Torbay Council give it a try; mark it out with one lane through the lights for 3 months and if anyone complains that it is taking them an extra 20 minutes to get to Brixham you can call them a liar.

How was it your fault?

If you were already in the lane and he/she was joining the lane then they are at fault.

Me guesses they probably were towing without a licence that allows them to tow to make such mistake.

I wouldnt stand for none of that :-)

Traffic engineers loves this sort of junction layout (1 lane -> 2 lanes through juncion -> 1 lane) as it 'improves' the throughput of traffic through the junction by providing more space for vehicles to queue.
IMO as people don't know how lane merges work it's a waste of time.

Hope your cctv was working to prove it wasn't your fault.

I showed the photos I took after the collision to a couple of people at work who were in agreement that as he changed lanes without checking it was safe to do so, it must be his fault. Not all our buses have cctv cameras fitted yet, we are working towards that, and as luck would have it that bus didn't.
I will keep you posted if there are any developments I actually get to hear about.

Sometimes the CCTV doesnt even work, when you imagine thousands of buses have to be kitted with it, they aint going to go for the all singing/dancing systems are they?

We all have an Arriva issue camera with us at all times to take pictures :) - especially when digital camera images cannot be used in court.

Admissibility of Digital
Images as Evidence

The existing UK legislation House of Lords Committee report and recent Police
Scientific Development Branch report are clear that digital images are admissible as
evidence in UK courts, provided that the digital images are appropriately
authenticated. This is the same rule as applies to other evidence in UK courts. The
House of Lords and Police Scientific Development Branch reports are also clear that
no particular technological authentication is required in respect of digital images .
albeit that technical authentication may increase the evidential weight of digital images.
Rather digital images may be authenticated by use of suitable procedural measures
(such as those set out in the British Standards Institute and Police Scientific
Development Branch documents).

Yes, but its not worth taking loads of images on a digital cam only to have it all discarded.

Old style films are guarenteed.
